Sensory Learning Program

motiontableThe Sensory Learning Program (SLP) is a multi-modal intervention designed to help developmental learning, by stimulating the visual, auditory, and vestibular systems at the same time. SLP requires the primary sensory systems to process information simultaneously in order to help them adapt better to multi-sensory input.

The Sensory Learning Program is a 30-day intervention broken into 12 consecutive days at our office and 18 days of home-based light therapy. The 12 days of therapy at our clinic consists of two 30-minute sessions on the Sensory Learning Unit. Each session is an individual experience and engages the auditory, visual, and vestibular senses to work in an integrated way. After the patient completes the initial 12 days of therapy, he/she will be sent home with a portable light unit to continue the home based portion of therapy.

The Sensory Learning Program often results in the following functional improvements:

  • Speech
  • Perception
  • Understanding
  • Social Interaction
  • Gross and Fine Motor Coordination
  • Coordination
  • Ability to Learn

Vision Performance Optometric Center has successfully utilized this program to treat individuals with learning-related vision disorders, autistic spectrum disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, traumatic brain injury, and developmental delays.
